🌿 Ayurvedic View on Eye Health (Ayurveda mein Netra Swasthya)
Ayurveda kehta hai:
"Netra hi gyaan ka pramukh dwar hai" – Eyes are the primary gateway to knowledge.
In Ayurveda, eyes are governed by Pitta dosha, specifically Alochaka Pitta.
Agar Pitta dosha vitiated ho jaaye, toh aankhon mein jalna, sukhapan, ya drishti dosh ho sakta hai.
Its sad for me that I got to know all these knowledge about Ayurveda for Eyesight care when it was too late but still I'm getting improvement by following these remedies

🧑⚕️ Real Patient Case – “Aunty’s Dry Eyes & Weak Vision”
Mere pados ki aunty (around 55 years old) roz phone aur TV dekhte-dekhte aankhon ki roshni kam hone ki complain karti thi. Unki aankhen roz lal ho jaati thi, dryness aur jalan rehti thi.
Doctor ne unko artificial tears prescribe kiye the, but koi long-term relief nahi mila.
Main ne unhe ek simple Ayurvedic routine diya:
✅ Daily 1 tsp Triphala powder in warm water before bed
✅ Rose water cotton pads over eyes in afternoon
✅ Cow ghee eyelid massage at night
✅ Trataka practice (5 min daily)
✅ Amla juice daily morning
Sirf 3 hafte mein unki aankhon ka redness kam ho gaya. Unhe lagne laga ki unki aankhen “thandi aur relaxed” feel kar rahi hain.
Unhone mujhe bola, “Ayush beta, ab TV dekhne mein bhi maza aata hai bina jalne ke.”
That’s when I realized how powerful these desi methods can be!
📋 Daily Eye Care Chart – Follow this Routine
Time | What to Do | Benefit |
---|---|---|
🌅Morning | Drink Amla juice / Soaked almonds | Vitamin C & eye nutrients |
🕘 10 AM | Take a break from screen – do palming | Reduces strain |
🕓 4 PM | Rose water cotton pads on eyes (10 mins) | Cooling & soothing |
🌇 Evening | Trataka (5 min diya gazing) | Improves focus & vision |
🌃 Night | Eyelid massage with desi ghee | Relieves dryness |
🙋♂️ FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Can I apply ghee inside the eyes?
👉 No. Only trained Ayurvedic Vaidyas perform Netra Tarpan by pouring medicated ghee inside the eyes. At home, apply ghee only on eyelids, not inside.
Q2. Is Triphala safe for sensitive eyes?
👉 Yes, but make sure you use well-strained water and check for allergies. Do a patch test on one eye before regular use.
Q3. Can these remedies reverse specs power?
👉 Not completely. But they can prevent further damage, reduce fatigue, and strengthen eye muscles, especially in early stages.
Q4. Is Trataka safe for kids and elders?
👉 Yes, Trataka is safe for most people above 10 years, but they should start with only 30 seconds to 1 min and slowly increase.
Q5. My eyes get red after drops. What to do?
👉 Switch to pure rose water or Ayurvedic drops like Isotine. Avoid any drops with harsh preservatives.
🧠 Bonus Tip – “Mind ka Effect Aankhon Par Hota Hai”
Bahut baar stress ya tension bhi aankhon mein jalan aur heaviness create karta hai.
Isliye din mein thoda time nikalke:
- Meditate for 5 minutes
- Deep breathe
- Walk in sunlight (sun blinking is also good)
