💭 WHY I TRUST AYURVEDA FOR WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

As a BAMS student and Ayurvedic enthusiast, I’ve tried several modern diet trends—keto, fasting, protein shakes—but none gave lasting results. 

Only after I understood how Ayurveda heals from the root, I saw real transformation—not just physically but mentally and emotionally too.


🔍 WHAT CAUSES WEIGHT GAIN IN AYURVEDA?

According to Ayurveda, weight gain happens when Kapha dosha increases, digestive fire weakens, and Ama (toxins) accumulate in the body.

Here’s what I personally noticed during my own struggle with weight:

  • Constant bloating after meals
  • Feeling sluggish despite 8 hours of sleep
  • Craving sweets or fried snacks post-lunch

🧠 That’s when I learned: it’s not about calories—it’s about correcting the imbalance inside. 


🌿 AYURVEDIC REMEDIES I PERSONALLY FOLLOWED

✅ 1. TRIPHALA CHURNA AT NIGHT

I began with 1 tsp of Triphala powder + warm water before bed. Within a week, I noticed:

  • Better bowel movement
  • No bloating
  • Lighter stomach in the morning

➡ It became my go-to detox after heavy meals.

📌 My Experience: 

I’ve used Triphala for my own digestion issues. Within 10–15 days, I noticed less bloating and better bowel movements. This alone started reducing my weight.

📄 CASE – 

Ritu, 27 years old (PCOD and belly fat)

Ritu was struggling with PCOD, irregular periods, and weight gain (especially around the abdomen).

My Treatment:

Triphala at night

Ayurvedic tea with saunf, ajwain & cinnamon

Morning Kapalbhati + Surya Namaskar

Light, sattvic diet

Result: 

In 5 weeks, Ritu lost 3.8 kg, her periods normalized, and acne reduced too.


✅ 2. HONEY + LEMON WATER (EMPTY STOMACH)

Every morning, I drank lukewarm water with honey and lemon.
This habit:

  • Curbed my unnecessary hunger pangs
  • Increased morning alertness

✅ 3. FAT-CUTTING HERBAL WATER (MY GRANDMA'S REMEDY)

My dadi always gave me this mix:

  • Jeera (cumin)
  • Ajwain (carom)
  • Saunf (fennel)

I boiled all three in 1L water and sipped it the whole day.
➡ It relieved my acidity and helped reduce my waist by 2 inches in a month!


✅ 4. SURYA NAMASKAR + KAPALBHATI

I started doing 5–6 rounds of Surya Namaskar daily with Kapalbhati in the morning. In just 10 days:

  • My digestion improved
  • I sweated more and felt lighter
  • I slept better

💪 These two practices alone made a huge difference without going to the gym.


🫖 A MINI DETOX I TRIED AND LOVED

3-Day Reset Plan I Followed:

Day 1 – Khichdi all day + Triphala at night
Day 2 – Fruits in morning, veggie soup at night
Day 3 – Moong dal + stir-fried vegetables

I lost 1.8 kg in 3 days—without feeling hungry or weak!


🍵 MY BEDTIME HERBAL DRINK (TASTY + EFFECTIVE)

This was my nighttime recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp Triphala
  • Pinch of ginger powder
  • Few lemon drops
  • 1 cup warm water

➡ It tasted like kadha but helped cut belly fat and improved my sleep quality.

Ayurvedic Fat-Loss Oil – External Treatment

Ayurveda also includes Abhyanga (oil massage) as part of detox.

DIY Belly Fat Massage Oil:

Coconut oil + Cinnamon + Camphor

Apply daily in circular motion for 10 mins before bath

I personally applied this oil .

Most patients reported better skin tone, less bloating, and reduced belly inches within 3 weeks of consistent use.


🧘‍♂️ LIFESTYLE CHANGES I MADE (AND SUGGEST)

🕕 1. Waking up before 6 AM

Waking up in Brahma Muhurat gave me more time and mental clarity. I felt more motivated to move and eat better.

🧘‍♀️ 2. Yoga, Not Just Gym

Instead of exhausting myself with weights, I shifted to yoga and bodyweight exercises. It worked much better for my Kapha body type.

📌 My Routine: 30–40 minutes yoga daily has helped not only in weight but also improving focus and digestion.

📄 CASE  – 

Mr. Suresh, 45 years (Diabetes + Obesity)

Weight: 94 kg | Complaint: Fatigue, high fasting sugar, abdominal fat

Ayurvedic Protocol I used:

Triphala powder at night

Bitter gourd juice (200 ml) in morning

Yoga (Under supervision: Mandukasana, Vajrasana, Kapalbhati)

Light moong dal khichdi at night

Outcome: In 2 months, he lost 6.2 kg, sugar levels dropped from 154 to 108 mg/dl, and energy levels improved.


🍽️ 3. Mindful Eating

I stopped eating while watching reels and practiced chewing food 32 times.
➡ I felt fuller with less food.


❌ THINGS I AVOIDED COMPLETELY

  • Milk + fruits together
  • Curd at night
  • Cold water after meals
  • Fried food on Sundays (my cheat day temptation!)

🛑 These changes helped balance Kapha and reduce Ama (toxins).

To lose fat, one must remove what causes it in the first place:

-Fried and packaged snacks

-Cold drinks & bottled juices

-White sugar & white bread

-Overeating fruits like banana, mango at night
